Today is the 69th birthday of the comedic legend Moin Akhtar and Pakistan is proving that legends live on in our hearts.

People paid tribute to the Rosy actor in a variety of ways. From heartfelt wishes to doses of nostalgia.

People brought back his iconic performances such as in the Pakistani Television masterpiece Rosy. As well as his television show ‘Loose Talk‘ on ARY Digital.

 

There were plenty of mushy moments shared as well. Fans remember how the comedian was famed for his clean comedy, unlike the lewd and suggestive humor we see most of nowadays. There’s nothing wrong with dirty comedy, but its just not fit for a family show. With Moin Akhtar, what you see is what you get.

From comedy to tragedy, television to theater, Moin Akhtar really conquered it all. An artist revered for theater performances like that in Bakra Qiston Pe and Buddha Ghar Pe Hai.

Meanwhile, his television stints blew up as well with shows like Fifty-Fifty, Show Sha, Studio Dhhai, etc.

Educating people with humor remained a constant theme throughout his career.

His television show Loose Talk covered contemporary issues in a comedic manner. It covered everything from social issues such as ethnic stereotypes, to political issues such as terrorism.

Not only was Moin Akhtar one of the pioneers of comedy shows, but he also introduced dark comedy when the Pakistani art scene needed it. Using dark humor he made grave issued palatable and used his platform to inform the public.

This is a man who made fun of ex-President Pervaiz Musharraf during a performance and even the general couldn’t help but laugh!

He was awarded the Pride of Performance Award in 1996 for her contributions to film, television, and theater. He was also handed the accolade of ‘Sitara-i-Imtiaz’

The national lost an artistic treasure on April, 22, 2011 when Moin Akhtar died. Earlier this year on the artist’s death anniversary the Government of Pakistan paid tribute to the legend.
