Hollywood actor and star of the Fifty Shades franchise Jamie Dornan opened up about his experience playing the Christian Grey. The Irish star shared his struggles of playing the character.
Fifty Shades of Grey and its sequels have been one of the most polarizing films in recent memory. While some enjoyed it, others hated the series. However, everyone fondly remembers the stylish businessman with kinks for BDSM in his own Red Room — Christian Grey.
Audiences loved the character mainly because of the charismatic performance by Jamie Dornan. In a recent interview for his upcoming film Wild Mountain Thyme, the 38-year-old revealed he struggled to get into character as Christian Grey.
“Oftentimes, I felt quite uncomfortable, being very honest with you, playing Christian Grey. I felt like it was very far away from me, and sometimes, I struggled with it,” the Irish actor shared.
Jamie Dornan admitted that he found it difficult to relate or enter the mind of Christian Grey. He stated that Grey is someone who is super-confident, aggressive and controlling, which he isn’t.
The actor said it was a struggle to spend four years inside the headspace of Christian Grey. However, Jamie said he never surrendered himself to Christian’s psyche.
The 38-year-old is set to play a lonely and socially-awkward farmer opposite Emily Blunt. For fans of the Fifty Shades franchise, this will be a whole new experience as the film offers a different kind of romance between Jamie Dornan and Emily Blunt in Wild Mountain Thyme.
