Royal Visit to Pakistan

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived for their Royal Visit to Pakistan yesterday. So far Prince William and Kate Middleton’s exact itinerary is being kept under wraps amid tight security.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were received by Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his wife.

Kensington Palace said;

“Details of the couple’s engagements are being kept under wraps until the day due to security considerations.”

First Royal Visit Since Princess Diana

This is the first time since Princess Diana that a royal has come to visit Pakistan. The Princess would often come to Pakistan for charity work.

The last time a royal couple visited Pakistan was when the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the Commonwealth country.

The visit seeks to strengthen ties between the UK and Pakistan. As well as;

“largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today — a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation.”

The Royal visit to Pakistan is being dubbed the ‘most complex’ tour to date by the palace due to the complex security situation in the region as political tensions mount between India and Pakistan over Kashmir.

Later today Prince William and Kate Middleton will attend a special reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan. There the Duke of Cambridge is expected to make a speech at the reception to be held at Pakistan National Monument.
