Marvel’s Black Widow is finally in the works and they have rising star Florence Pugh onboard.
Marvel fans have been asking for a Black Widow solo movie before DC debuted Gal Gadot as the fierce heroine Wonder Woman.
Now we have the story of the KGB agent turned S.H.I.E.L.D spy alongside another strong actress Florence Pugh.
Another Strong Female
Florence Pugh is a 23-year-old British actress. She’s currently starring in the Dwayne Johnson-produced WWE-dramedy Fighting with My Family.
Jack Schaeffer is keeping his script top secret so we don’t know what Pugh is doing with Natasha Romanoff.
Florence Pugh will be seen next in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. Little Women casts bigwigs Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep and Laura Dern. Pugh will play the youngest March sister, Amy.

On the matter of strong actresses, Scarlett Johannson will be paid a whopping $15 million to play Russian spy-turned-superhero Natasha Romanoff in the stand-alone movie. That is the same amount Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans were paid for their stand-alone movies.
Pugh’s Character
Writer Jack Schaeffer is keeping Black Widow’s script under tight wraps. We know that Marvel does take its’ storylines from recent comics.
Hollywood Reporter suspects that Mark Waid and Chris Samnee’s 12-issue Black Widow (2016) will be the source of inspiration for Natasha’s onscreen origin story.
The comic features Natasha’s flashbacks from her days in the Red Room and her first mission.
Flashbacks from the past will also be slipped in to establish the story. We’ve seen these used before with Black Widow’s flashbacks in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In the comics, those Red Room flashbacks tell us about Natasha’s childhood friend Anya, who is the The Headmistress’ daughter. Unlike Natasha, who is the Headmistress’ favorite, Anya is too soft and emotional, which is why she is left untrained.

Natasha then cuts off Anya like a dead-weight, causing her to hate Natasha, her mother, and her own ineffectual feelings.
Anya later reemerges as the trained, deadly Spider ‘Recluse’ (a reference to her hiatus and the recluse spider, one of two deadly spiders in North America).
Recluse creates the Dark Room training program for child assassins like the Red Room. Except the Dark Room is not run by the government but Anya.
We can’t wait to see how Black Widow’s onscreen debut turns out.
