A Florida man from Fruitland Park was apprehended for throwing a Christmas tree at his wife, who asked him to help her with the dinner.
According to reports, the culprit, Richard Atchison, was placed under arrest for “losing his temper” after his wife allegedly put a spoon in the sink that splashed water on him, after he refused to help her make dinner.
The 52-year-old packed up his things and went out for a while, only to return home in a drunken stupor, and asked his wife to leave. According to the police, when Atchison’s wife tried to leave, as the Florida man picked up the decorative Christmas tree from the corner of the couple’s living room and threw it at her.
During the escalation, the wife could not escape her husband who then reportedly blocked the front door of the house, preventing her from leaving. Atchison was booked in the Lake County Jail in Florida on a domestic battery charge for his violent meltdown.
