The Free Fire Pakistan League (FFPL) Grand Final 2021 concluded on Sunday, 14th March 2021. The championship laid a foundation for the future of e-gaming opportunities in Pakistan. With such a tournament, Free Fire sets the precedence for future e-sports platforms in the country.

Organized by Garena, the FFPL e-tournament is a first of its kind event in Pakistan, arranged as the country’s first e-sports tournament. In the past, many Pakistani players have landed the country on the map of e-sports abroad, but till now, Pakistan’s localised e-sports tournament was not heard of before.

Free Fire is one of the most popular mobile games not just in Pakistan but globally as well. The e-sports scene at Free Fire is blowing up since 2020 when Free Fire won the Esports Mobile Game Of The Year award, according to the rating category of the prestigious organization – E-sports Awards 2020. Now, with the FFPL Grand Finale 2021 tournament, e-sport organizers like Garena have included Pakistan in its list of markets in the region. FFPL was one of the biggest E-sports events ever to be hosted in Pakistan.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the finale of the FFPL tournament took place in the context of no live audience watching. However, with cautious preparation, we can feel the excitement of an unprecedented final of Free Fire E-sports Pakistan.

After many intense matches, the teams were considered rookie to the tournament, with a more relaxed spirit that brought a lot of surprises like Demons Pride, Revengers, NoChance…

House Of Blood was the defending champion and the representative of Pakistan at the FFCS Qualifier 2020 tournament, after days of playing in its own form. Although there was hope in the 4th match, the pressure of fans’ expectations was laden heavily on their shoulders, causing them to make unnecessary mistakes, stopping at 5th place.

Team Guardians (Team TG) were crowned the Champions of the FFPL 2021. They’ve previously represented Pakistan at the FFCS 2020. This time around, they were calmer and cleverer than ever with their playing style. Their efforts and spirit throughout the tournament paved the way for their success in this tournament.

The tournaments of this game also attracted many viewers. Especially with FFPL 2021, the fierce matches between the 12 strongest Free Fire teams were an emotional roller coaster for viewers. The top 12 teams in the country battled against one another for the title and a massive prize pool of a whopping 2.4 million Pakistan rupees. The winner, Team Guardians were awarded 1.2 million PKR.

Meanwhile, the second and third-placed team was awarded 3.20 lac PKR and 1.2 lac PKR, respectively.

The winner of the tournament also secured a place in the Free Fire World Series 2021, which will be the biggest Free Fire global tournament to date. The tournament will take place in April and will see 22 teams from 13 regions competing for the ultimate glory.

Team TG once again represents Pakistan at the play-ins round and has the opportunity to progress to the World Series final. The world’s largest Free Fire E-sports Tournament will take place this April-May.

Garena Free Fire is a battle royale game published by Garena for Android and iOS. It became the most downloaded mobile game globally in 2019. Owing to its popularity, the game received the award for the “Best Popular Vote Game” by the Google Play Store in 2019. As of May 2020, Free Fire has set a record with over 80 million daily active users globally. It was also the most downloaded game of 2020 as per App Annie.
