The ban on Bollywood movies has provided the local film industry with the opportunity to make the most of it. While we can’t say for sure how much their efforts have yielded fruit, Lollywood is pretty much going full-steam ahead. Actress Ghana Ali certainly seems to think so.

The year 2020 looks jam-packed, with over ten Pakistani films already announced for release next year.

The list has a new member and this time it is the lovely Ghana Ali and the handsome Emmad Irfani teaming up. Their next film “Gawah Rehna” will begin shooting in October this year.

Written and directed by Tariq Mehmood, the film will be released in March next year. Talking at a presser in Karachi, Tariq said that the film is based on a significant historical era. The movie puts the  Khilafat Movement front and center.

Nobody would want to leave such a project in which there is so much acting margin and there are so many good actors. Then obviously there was history of ancestors in it and I always wanted to do this kind of a project. I think it is an educational film as well. This is a very good time to educate people about our history,” she added.
