Groom Arrested for Having His Wedding During Coronavirus Lockdown

You’d think people are finally taking the Coronvirus pandemic seriously after a countrywide lockdown, but no. A wedding that was recently held in Pakpattan proves why we might need stricter measures and a complete curfew.

A groom was arrested from a village in Pakpattan on Thursday, for gathering over 50 people at his wedding.

The gathering was at the groom’s house and he almost got away with it. Just when the groom, his family members, their neighbors, and friends were heading out as a ‘Baraat’ procession, the police arrived.

So no they didn’t even get to the bride’s house when a police team raided the groom’s house.

The police stated the obvious for arresting people that such gatherings are likely to spread the Coronavirus. Amid the nationwide Coronavirus lockdown, such gatherings are prohibited. Of course, the groom and others have been arrested for violating the lockdown.

Soon enough the spread of the COVID-19 will move on to phase 3, which is community spreading. That is why a lockdown was imposed to contain the outbreak before it gets out of hand.

Pakistan already lacks the medical infrastructure to treat a large number of patients. If the spread of the viral outbreak is not stopped soon, it will overburden the healthcare system and people will die from the lack of treatment.

A case has been registered against the suspects under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code for disobedience of orders.
