Hamza Ali Abbasi Reveals Why He Rejected Bollywood Film ‘Judwaa 2’

The Alif star declined the offer because of certain scenes in the film and turbulent relations between Pakistan and India.

The talented actor Hamza Ali Abbasi recently disclosed that he had been offered Bollywood films several times but refused to do so for certain reasons. While in conversation on an online chat show with his co-star Gohar Rasheed, the Pyaray Afzal star revealed that he had rejected the Varun Dhawan-starrer Judwaa 2 in 2015 because he was uncomfortable with performing certain scenes.

He said,

“I have no idea, maybe because India and Pakistan have been at arm’s length and there were certain scenes in that film that I wasn’t comfortable with.”

The Mann Mayal actor also talked about rejecting Akshay Kumar’s political thriller film Baby due to its anti-Pakistan content. Pakistani actor, Mikaal Zulfiqar, played the role in question later on.

Back then, Hamza Ali Abbasi had stated on Facebook that he had been “offered this Indian film Baby last year and I immediately said no to it seeing a slight anti-Pakistan element in its storyline. I am in favor of our artists working in Indian films, but if any film has even a slight anti-Pakistan theme, please think like a Pakistani first and then an artiste”.

In 2016, the Man Mayal star also called on Pakistani actors to boycott Bollywood because of water supply and LOC issues – a boycott that continues to this day.

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi is currently enjoying the success of the blockbuster film The Legend of Maula Jatt which has garnered over Rs. 100 crores globally.

From its record-breaking run at the Pakistani box office despite limited screening to dominating recently released Bollywood films like Ram Setu and Thank God in the global market, The Legend Of Maula Jatt is setting new benchmarks for the Pakistani film industry.
