How Hamza Sohail got cast by Kashif Nisar

Hamza revealed that he initially worked for production houses in Karachi because he was keen on learning the craft. “I would pick up sofas, give water bottles, basically do anything and everything to stay on set. I wanted to observe the process of acting.”

“When I began working on sets that’s when the lockdown happened and I had to fly back to Lahore, I was so disappointed. But then I came to know that Kashif Nisar is making a drama in Lahore. I ran a few contacts and got a meeting time with the director. We chatted for some time and then he asked me to audition.”

However, the audition was another ball game altogether as many other aspiring actors were also in the run. After multiple rounds, Hamza was finally selected for the role of Abdul.

How is Hamza different from Abdul

In reality, Hamza is very different from his on-screen character Abdul. While Abdul is unkempt, raw, and very desi, Hamza is equally conscious about his looks and hygiene. “It was particularly difficult playing this character because he is a polar opposite, I could never imagine living the way he does.”

Despite the contrast, he did justice to the character. However, his own family members haven’t really appreciated him a lot. “My father and mother have seen the play but they just said keep working hard. They aren’t very vocal when it comes to praise,” says Hamza in an innocent manner.

Not many know that he is the fact son of veteran actor Sohail Ahmed aka Azizi. Clearly, he has inherited a lot of talent.
