Some men are beyond comprehension when it comes to their rights (and limits) especially when it concerns the opposite gender. A woman is likely to get killed for having an influence, for talking over the phone, saying no to a marriage proposal or simply not serving her brother food. We have all heard of such incidents in the news, and things really are not changing for the better.
In an incident where a woman did fight for her rights as enshrined in Islam, this brave lady crashed her husband’s third wedding.
A Wife’s Permission is important
When it comes to men, most believe that they can get away with marrying four (sometimes even more) women at the same time. Most people tend to miss the fine print regarding how they are allowed to do that.
According to Islamic teachings, ‘a man can only marry another woman with the consent of his first wife.’ Yet this instruction is conveniently ignored. Even if you get two wives, you have to treat them equally.

‘A Man’s Right’
A video has been surfacing the internet bringing light to this matter.
In it, a man’s wedding reception is crashed by someone who claims to be his first wife. Allegedly, Asif Rafiq married her in 2014, and also has a kid with the woman.
The video takes a brutal turn, as we see this woman bashing her husband in front of all the guests, saying he married for the second time without her consent, and after being forgiven, he’s here marrying for the THIRD time.
Let’s take a look at the video:
The man was beaten up by not only his first wife but also her family. After being taken in by the police, upon arrival of his first wife and her family, he attempted to escape.
In the video, he is seen hiding under a truck near Landi Kotal Chawk. The family did not hesitate in throwing punches and kicks at Rafiq, who was finally saved by the local hotel staff.
Rafiq claims that he had given the lady a divorce. He adds:
It is my right to marry four women at the same time.

The Role of the Police
Why is domestic abuse and domestic injustice not taken care of by the police with the same enthusiasm they portray when dealing with young couples? Admittedly, nobody should take matters to a point where someone is physically abused instead of talking it out in a civilized manner.
But should desi men marry for the second (or third) time without their wife’s consent? Was this lady right in crashing her husband’s third wedding? Let us know what you think!
