Former cricketer star and commentator, Wasim Akram gave an amusing response to Fakhr-e-Alam after The Pavilion host called him a “national dhobi” on a live TV program yesterday.

Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik, and Misbah-ul-Haq were locked in a serious discussion about Pakistan’s chances at the World Cup on A Sports’ talk show, The Pavilion.

During a post-match analysis of Pakistan’s virtual quarter-final against Bangladesh at the T20 World Cup ahead of the former’s semi-final clash against New Zealand, legendary pacer Waqar Younis brought some levity into the tense discussion and presented a bizarre fan query to Wasim Akram.

“There is a very important question. Very important. It’s addressed to you,” Waqar Younis began.

The question is ‘Does washing clothes with Ariel really clean them?’

The Sultan of Swing, who has been a brand ambassador for the popular laundry detergent for many years, burst into laughter and replied,

I have been washing clothes for the last 10 years. Now, I am 56 years old. I can confirm that the clothes do get clean.

He hilariously concluded his statement with the iconic “Ariel, Ariel” chant.

Fakhr-e-Alam chimed in saying, “Our national dhobi,” to which Wasim Akram chuckled that he’s heard of “national bhabhi” before but never ‘national dhobi’.

Wasim Akram continues to make headlines, and recently made startling revelations about his drug addiction in an interview with a British newspaper.

His autobiography Sultan: A Memoir is set to hit bookstores this November.
