If Barcelona sell Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic this summer, Ronald Koeman will be the only one left at the Nou Camp who has scored in a Champions League final.

Way Messi has asked to leave feels pretty old school. Barcelona say Messi sent a “burofax” asking to leave the club. I had to google “burofax”. It is a real thing.

If Messi is to leave @FCBarcelona by activating a release clause, then I hope the club try to help, not hinder him. He’s been fiercely loyal and their greatest ever player. It would be terribly sad if it finished with a fight between the player and the club.

What made Messi leave?
The Argentine joined the Spanish giants as a young kid and has always hoped to end his illustrious career in Camp Nou.
However, with some recent changes in management, poor performances in La Liga, including a thrashing by Bayern Munich at the UEFA Champions League as well as deteriorating relationships between the player and board, Messi has finally made the decision to leave his longtime club.
Messi’s lawyer sent out a fax to the club’s management that he wishes to trigger his release clause and start a new chapter elsewhere.
However, the Barcelona management is not on board with the decision and are looking to keep hold of their star player. The future is uncertain for Lionel Messi.
