Here’s Why Meera was Banned in the UK

The veteran actress has a little trouble understanding English.

Everyone knows our beloved actress Meera Ji isn’t the most eloquently fluent when it comes to English. Apparently, this why she is not welcome in the United Kingdom (UK).

Meera, whose real name is Syeda Irtiza Rubab, found herself banned from the United Kingdom for ten years due to a linguistic mix-up during an immigration interview.

The saga began a decade ago when Meera was refused entry into the UK. The reason? A baffling exchange during an immigration interview at Heathrow Airport. According to Meera’s mother, Shafqat Zahra Bukhari, the confusion stemmed from a language barrier.

The immigration officer asked Meera about “transit,” but she kept responding with “transaction,” leading to a comedy of errors that resulted in a serious consequence: a ten-year ban.

Meera’s mother has made a heartfelt appeal to the UK High Commission in Pakistan, urging them to grant her daughter a visa. The ban has not only affected Meera’s career but also her family life.

While her younger sister resides in Germany and her youngest sister is a solicitor in London, Meera has been unable to visit the UK, where her family owns a house purchased with her earnings.

Even after the ban expired, Meera faced further hurdles. A subsequent visa application was rejected due to false information entered by her travel agent. Despite these setbacks, Meera remains determined to return to the UK, where several film projects await her participation.

Reflecting on the past, Zahra noted that Meera’s English skills have significantly improved after spending ten years in the United States. “She speaks fluently now,” Zahra assured, adding that numerous investors are eager to back Meera’s film projects in the UK.

Meera has hired a new lawyer to assist with her latest visa application, hoping to finally resolve this long-standing issue.

Her mother emphasized the importance of Meera’s presence in the UK for her career, stating, “There are several film projects she plans to do in the UK. These projects are on hold because Meera has a central role and these can only be completed when Meera is in the UK.”
