What’s going on in Gilgit-Baltistan with Imran Khan and Maryam Nawaz? Well, its election season here, and Pakistani leaders want to make their case why they are the best thing for the province. And yes, there are some Chirali hats involved as well too!
The Frontier Districts Province, which we now know by the name of Gilgit-Baltistan, has an interesting history. Prior to 1947, this region had a big population of Muslims. The community wanted to join Pakistan. As fate could have it, on November 1st, 1973, GB became a part of our country with the help of Major William Brown.
What we are trying to say here is that Gilgit-Baltistan has its own interesting history and rich cultural heritage. But we now have a bigger problem at hand. Who wore the traditional cap of GB better this election season! Let’s settle this.
The Contest for Gilgit-Baltistan
Imran Khan and Maryam Nawaz both held their election rallies there. And well, both were spotted wearing the ubiquitous hat, and people can’t help but draw comparisons. Both the leaders visited the region to celebrate its 73rd Independence Day. On one hand, IK is seen wearing white attire, and a black coat [no accessories] to complement the woolen hat.
On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz, like always, wore a luxurious dress with the traditional hat. And well, we can’t ignore her allegedly diamond-studded, Rolex watch.
Everyone on Twitter is comparing the two leaders and trying to decide who looks better. Here’s what they are saying:
