Ayeza Khan’s portrayal of Geeti in Laapata seems to be based on Alizeh Shah.
In the recent episode of Laapata, Geeti was invited to a morning show and asked to share her views on how she became a TikToker.
“I always had talent since the start. In fact, when I was born my family said, she’s not one of us, she has so much talent.”
The clip is heavily inspired by the viral video of Alizeh Shah, when she was asked a similar question about her future plans in the biz.
In the clip, Alizeh Shah refers to herself as an alien when explaining her artistic tendencies.
When this video first emerged back in the day, it sparked many memes. The most prominent one being the reenactment by Ali Gul Pir.
It’s unclear if Ayeza Khan drew inspiration from Alizeh while playing Geeti or the writer and director Khizer Idrees visualized the TikToker that way.
That’s not all Geeti copied from a real Pakistani social media influencer.
Laapata is currently an on-air drama serial on Hum TV. The drama serial cast Sarah Khan, Ayeza Khan, Ali Rehman Khan in central roles.
In the drama serial, Ayeza Khan plays a TikToker, Geeti Princess. This social media influencer is known for recreating iconic looks and scenes from classic moments featuring Bollywood and Pakistani artists. From Noor Jehan’s songs to Bollywood movie snippets.
The character does exhibit problematic behavior but it may be because she essays the antagonist in the drama.
A storyline doesn’t necessarily have to role with a fixed antagonist and at times Ayeza Khan’s character is clearly the bad guy.
