It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s Henry Cavill Back as Superman!

The ‘Man of Steel’ actor confirmed his return with a video message for his fans.

The Man of Steel star’s announcement came after he made a cameo during a mid-credits scene in Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s superhero film, Black Adam.

Henry Cavill had DC fans jumping for joy this week as he posted a video message on his Instagram that he captioned:

A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.

“I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam,” Cavill told his fans, and added, “But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman”.

Since 2017’s Justice League, there had been years of speculation if Cavill would return to play Superman or not. Most fans had given up on the idea, but not Dwayne Johnson. According to the Black Adam star’s tweet, it took years to bring the actor back.

Interesting fact: Dwayne Johnson was originally slated to appear as Black Adam in 2016’s Suicide Squad. The former WWE star posted this photo on his Instagram account in 2016, which has surprisingly aged well.

“We can’t build out our DCEU w/out the world’s greatest superhero,” The Rock tweeted.

Black Adam, which was released on 21 October, is Henry Cavill’s latest outing as the ‘Man of Steel’ since 2017’s Justice League. The character made a brief cameo in 2019’s Shazam! but it was a quick shot of Superman’s iconic suit and not the iconic Cavill.

Things are starting to look up for the DCEU as the company has exciting plans for Henry Cavill as Superman. The mid-credits scene between Black Adam and Superman looks like a setup for an epic showdown.
