However, things did not go as expected and soon, people figured out that the dress she wore is actually a rip-off of a creation by an international brand called Mihano Momosa.
How did that happen?
It all happened when Diet Sabya, an anonymous social media account which is known for calling out fashion plagiarism, made the revelation on their Instagram page on December 11.
Diet Sabya posted a collage of the two dresses on their Instagram and captioned it #gandi #copy.

The page also shared a screenshot of a conversation they had with Mihano Momosa’s official Twitter handle. They were inquiring whether Janhvi’s dress was an original creation or based off Mihano’s design.
Welp. Guess we got the answer.
Soon enough, the internet, as if waiting for this to happen, made Janhvi a target of criticism. Netizens also took Bollywood designers to town over their unoriginal designs.
Looks like some damage control is required.
