Journalist and talk show host, Mishal Bukhari passed away on Tuesday after a two-year battle with cancer. The 38-year-old journalist’s funeral was held today at 1pm at Jamia Al-Muntazar in Lahore.
Mishal Bukhari was a popular host of View Point, where he discussed current affairs with several prominent public figures.
The late talk show host’s husband, and Bol TV anchor, Ameer Abbas made the announcement on Twitter yesterday. He tweeted in Urdu,
My wife, journalist Mishal Bukhari, a beautiful heart, an incomparable personality, an incredibly patient, unbelievably brave woman, left an unbearable shock after fighting cancer for two years. Funeral tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Jamia Al-Muntazar Lahore
گزر تو جائے گی تیرے بغیر بھی لیکن
بڑی اُداس بڑی بے قرار گزرے گی
میری اہلیہ، صحافی مشعل بخاری، خوبصورت دل، بے مثل شخصیت، کمال صبر دکھانے والی، ناقابل یقین حد تک بہادر خاتون، دو سال تک کینسر سے کمال بہادری سے لڑتے لڑتے ناقابل برداشت صدمہ چھوڑ گئی۔

Several prominent public figures expressed their grief over the passing of Mishal Bukhari, including Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, who wrote a condolence message, stating that she “was deeply saddened at the news” and that “her services for the media industry would never be forgotten”.
Senior news journalist Rauf Klasra, who has appeared with Mishal Bukhari on the talk show Aap Kay Muqabil, described her death as a big loss. He tweeted, “Deeply saddened over the demise of Mishal Bukhari… Such a decent and wonderful person”.

Pakistan lost another journalist at the very outset of 2023 after 2022, a year riddled with several tragic deaths including some senior Pakistani journalists. Last year saw the shocking death of anchorperson and journalist Arshad Sharif and Jang Press president Imran Aslam as well.
