The Turkish series Ertuğrul is successfully airing on PTV. It already enjoys a huge fan base in Pakistan. The series as of now has given PTV’s YouTube channel over one million subscribers after the first episode was aired on Pakistan television.
The show about Muslim history has garnered praises for its incredible production and acting. Apparently, it is so good that our Pakistani ‘awaam’ are convinced that the actors in the show are just like the characters they portray. They got the shock of their lives when they discovered their Instagram profiles. Of course, some of these zealous fans left nasty comments for them.
YouTuber Junaid Akram gave a hilarious overview of this weird obsession of the Pakistani ‘awaam’ with the cast of Ertuğrul.
When Pakistani boys discovered Esra Bilgiç (the actress who played Halime Hatun on the show) on Instagram, they started bombarding her with nasty comments. Even the main actor Engin Altan Düzyatan (Ertuğrul himself) was not spared!

Esra looked breathtakingly beautiful in the picture however, Pakistani men couldn’t stop and had to lecture her on modesty and the ‘Islamic way’ of wearing clothes.

Whereas, Düzyatan uploaded an adorable picture with his German Shepard dog, and Pakistanis couldn’t hold back on the dog hate!
In a recent video, Junaid Akram explained how intolerant the comments were on the profiles and that we need to stop immediately. He also states that our own local actors and actresses are fed up with how insensitive and judgmental we have become towards their lifestyle.
Akram explains that we need to mend our ways pertaining to our strong friendship with Turkey. Also, he requests people not to go overboard with the show and watch it to understand our Islamic roots. There’s no reason to harassing the actors on their social media profiles.
