In a historic moment, K-pop queens Blackpink took center stage at Buckingham Palace during a state banquet with King Charles and South Korean dignitaries.
Buckingham Palace rolled out the red carpet for the four stars, even treating attendees to a rendition of Blackpink’s hit song “DDU-DU DDU-DU” performed by the King’s orchestra.
Blackpink was welcomed to Buckingham Palace with the prestigious Honorary MBEs. The four members of the group, Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé were honored with the Honorary MBEs (Members of the Order of the British Empire) as well.
Lisa, vibrant and colorful, donned a pastel fitted dress paired with a matching tweed cape and white heels.
Jennie, exuding sophistication, wore a longline tweed dress and a cropped jacket with statement buttons and black-and-white details. Jisoo embraced monochrome with a cap-sleeve skirt set cinched with a butterfly belt.
While, Rosé, on the edgier side, wore a semi-sheer blouse and a stylish Saint Laurent suit with sloped shoulders and a wide-legged silhouette.
The night before the Honorary MBE ceremony, Blackpink graced a State Banquet alongside members of the Royal family and foreign dignitaries.
The group stunned in statement evening gowns, with Lisa wearing a Georges Hobeika number, Jennie in an angelic off-the-shoulder dress, Jisoo in a dainty puff sleeve look from Dior, and Rosé in a strapless column dress.
During his address to the attendees, King Charles commended South Korea’s dedication to the arts and strides in sustainability. He specifically acknowledged Blackpink for their role in promoting environmental sustainability globally, catching the four members by surprise.
It is especially inspiring to see Korea’s younger generation embrace the cause. I applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, better known collectively as Blackpink, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience.
The fusion of K-pop and royal recognition at Buckingham Palace marks a memorable chapter in the illustrious journey of Blackpink, solidifying their status as global pop Royalty.
