Kapil Dev’s Daughter to Direct Ranveer Singh Starrer ‘83

The movie hits cinemas in 2020.

Amiya Dev and Kapil Dev

Renowned Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is getting special training from the former World Cup-winning Indian captain Kapil Dev to play what is probably his best role yet.

Ranveer has been cast to play Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan-directed ’83, and the legendary cricketer is leaving no stone unturned to get Ranveer into the skin of the character.

The untiring training and preparations for the movie involve not only ex-Indian skipper but also his daughter who will be working as an assistant director for the movie. In fact, she’s making her Bollywood debut with this film.

The movie will tell the success story of India’s first World Cup win in 1983 when they were considered the underdogs.

Young Amiya Dev is working as an assistant director to Kabir Khan for the project. She has been quite active in the pre-production work, Indian daily Mumbai Mirror reported.

The newspaper has quoted Chirag Patil, one of the actors in the movie, who was impressed with the energy and dedication of Amiya.

“We met for the first time while working on the film. She’s from Delhi, I’m from Mumbai, and she’s way younger than me. She’s part of our daily training sessions since she is on the direction team. So, she keeps us updated on any meetings we are supposed to attend.”

The cast for the movie has been revealed which, apart from Ranveer and Chirag, stars Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiva, Sahil Khattar, Hardy Sandhu, Ammy Virk and Pankaj Tripathi in vital roles.

After the pre-production process is done, the sports drama will be shot in England and Scotland for over 100 days. The movie will hit the screens in the middle of next year.
