The famous writer and poet, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar recently appeared in a show and shared about his personal and work life with his fans. He also talked about the controversies he faced in his time and what was the reason behind them.

During the candid chit-chat, the writer recited a few lines from his poem Mohabbat Bhi Zaruri The, Becharna Bhi Zaruri Tha. After humming this poem he revealed that he was in his ninth class when he wrote this poem.

The Mere Pass Tum Ho writer also shared that he used to write poems secretly because of his parents’ strictness. He was pressured to focus on English and for a period of 10 years, he did not write anything in Urdu.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar also openly discussed the unexpected and at times passionate public responses his projects have garnered. The discussion primarily centered on the striking conclusions of Meray Paas Tum Ho and Pyarey Afzal, both of which managed to evoke strong emotions from the audience.

Recalling the fervent reception to the conclusion of Meray Paas Tum Ho, Qamar recounted, “I witnessed intense public reactions at the cinema at the screening of Meray Paas Tum Ho’s last episode. The ending infuriated some women to the point that they started bashing me forcing their husbands to intervene.”

Similarly, the culmination of Pyarey Afzal, a series starring Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayeza Khan, also garnered a passionate response from the public. “I was once on a plane settling down when an elderly woman patted my back and asked, ‘Why did you kill Afzal?’” Qamar shared, illustrating the impact of his work.

Delving into the rationale behind his creative choices, Qamar divulged, “I killed the character on Hamza’s request. He said, ‘Please kill me in the drama, I want to stay alive forever in the audience’s heart.’ I was moved by his enthusiasm and decided to kill the protagonist.”
