The celebrated yet controversial writer and director behind iconic Pakistani dramas like Pyare Afzal and Mere Pass Tum Ho, Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, has finally broken his silence on one of the most persistent rumors surrounding his personal life: his marriage to ex-wife of Faysal Quraishi.
The revelation came during a candid appearance on a podcast, where Khalil addressed the long-standing speculation, denied any wrongdoing, and shared surprising details about his friendship with Faysal and the circumstances surrounding the marriage.
“I can recite the Kalma that the reason for their divorce was not me,” Khalil declared, leaving no room for ambiguity. He explained that the split was due to personal reasons unrelated to him and that he had, in fact, tried to save their marriage.
“I fought with Faysal and his mother to make his marriage work,” Khalil revealed. “But his mother told me, ‘This divorce has been postponed because of you, but it had to happen.’”
Khalil also reflected on his friendship with Faysal Quraishi, calling him a “dear friend” and praising his acting talent.
“I’ve always admired Faysal as an actor and as a person,” Khalil said. “Our friendship has been through ups and downs, but I’ve always respected him.”
Khalil Ur Rehman didn’t shy away from addressing the elephant in the room: his marriage to ex-wife of Faysal Quraishi. While he admitted to marrying her after her divorce, he was quick to clarify that their relationship began long after the separation.
“I married his wife later on, but that’s another story,” Khalil said. “I wasn’t even financially settled at the time to attract someone. People need to understand that their divorce was not because of me. I only met his wife once or twice before their separation.”
The writer expressed frustration over the persistent rumors, which he feels have unfairly painted him as the villain in the story.
