Yes, even Koena Mitra has money problems.

Apna Sapna Money Money is what she’s known for now. The film certainly was hilarious, but who knew Mitra would be roped into a fraud case in real life. Previously the actress was famed for her break-out performance in Musafir. To be precise the item song ‘O Saki Saki‘. That song’s reboot with Nora Fatehi has caused quite a stir, but Mitra is back to hogging the spotlight.

Koena Mitra vs Poonam Sethi

The Mumbai Mirror reports that model Poonam Sethi filed a legal complaint against Mitra way back in 2013. (haseena vs haseena, does this get any filmier). Poonam Sethi claims that Mitra borrowed 2.2 million Indian rupees from her. Koena was supposed to pay Sethi back with interest but failed to do so.

In the prolonged legal battle, Poonam Sethi did receive a cheque worth INR 0.3 million from Mitra, but the cheque bounced (talk about a plot twist).

Poonam then sent another legal notice to the actress in 2013. Despite receiving the warning and notice, Koena Mitra has failed to pay up. This has led the magistrate to warn Mitra that if she continues to avoid paying Sethi, she will find herself in jail for three months.

All the while Koena Mitra has maintained the claim that she is innocent, and this is an attempt to frame her. She also stated that she will be challenging this case in the high court.
