Late Zara Abid Awarded ‘Best Female Model’ at The Lux Style Awards

The late model Zara Abid was honored at the recently concluded Lux Style Awards. She won the award for ‘The Best Female Model’ – an honor that was posthumous for her.

Zara Abid was among the 99 passengers onboard the tragic flight that met its end on May 22. The ill-fated Karachi-bound PK 8303 flight crashed in a residential area of the city just a few minutes before landing. The flight had 8 cabin crew members and 99 passengers. 97 of those passengers passed away in the tragic incident, including popular model turned actress Zara Abid.

As soon as the news broke of Zara Abid’s passing, fans and friends from the fashion fraternity sent their condolences for the 28-year-old model. People mourned the loss of an icon in the fashion fraternity.

Months after the incident, the late model was nominated at the Lux Style Awards (posthumous). The 28-year-old had already done so much for the industry, which is why there was no doubt that her memory was honored the award for Best Female Model.

As a renowned model, Zara was known for her height and beautiful, dusky complexion. This made her stand out from the rest in an industry that had been dominated by ‘fair skin’ models. She faced a lot of discrimination due to her looks and skin color. However, Zara worked her way up to stardom.
