Legendary Actor Jagdeep Passes Away At 81

May his soul rest in peace.

Bollywood comedian and veteran actor Jagdeep has passed away due to age-related health issues. The veteran entertainer died at the age of 81.

The actor was highly regarded in Bollywood as made his mark in the entertainment industry with his comedy and acting skills.

Jagdeep’s legacy lives on through his children, Naved Jafri and actor Jaaved Jafri. The latter is well known for his acting and dancing skills. Jaaved along with his brother Naved were the host of the long-running dance show called Boogie Woogie.

About Jagdeep

Born on March 29, 1939 as Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri in Amritsar, the late Jagdeep started his career as a child actor.

Making his debut in BR Chopra’s 1951 Afsana, alongside Ashok Kumar, Veena and Pran, the veteran actor has worked in over 400 films.

Some notable films from his early days include Raj Kapoor’s Ab Dilli Door Nahin, Guru Dutt’s Aar Paar, KA Abbas’s Munna, Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zamin and AVM production’s Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke.

Jagdeep’s best-known performance was as Soorma Bhopali in Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 blockbuster Sholay.

The young generation of Bollywood fans fondly remembers him as Salman Khan’s father in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Andaaz Apna Apna.

The actor’s last known performance was in the 2017 film Masti Nahi Sasti, which featured actors like Johnny Lever, Prem Chopra, Shakti Kapoor and Kader Khan.

The late great actor will forever be remembered for his work in Bollywood.
