Liam Neeson’s ‘Racist’ Comments Land him in Trouble
The actor was speaking to ‘The Independent.’ and recounted in detail that he once sought to take revenge on any black person because a friend of his was raped by one. Years ago, Nesson learnt from someone close to him that a friend of his was raped.
Nesson recalls how angry he was about the whole thing, and started entertaining thoughts about killing a random black person in return. He says that those thoughts were natural, and that his point was to show that violence and revenge doesn’t accomplish anything.
“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody — I’m ashamed to say that — and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could … kill him.”
This is the statement that provoked a deluge of outrage against the superstar, and it seems there’s no coming back after this one.

He concluded that interview by saying,
“It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that. … But I did learn a lesson from it, when I eventually thought, ‘What the fuck are you doing,’ you know?”
His comments went viral, and many pointed out that as a white man, this was him exercising his white privilege. The very fact that he had to say ‘black bastard’ was enough to indict him.
To control the damage his comments caused, the actor appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America. He insisted that his comments were meant to show honor, to stand up for his friend who had been wronged. He also revealed that he recanted once he sought the counsel of a priest, who pulled him from doing something very wrong.

In a sad twist of irony, Cold Pursuit follows the story of a snowplow driver (Neeson) who seeks violent revenge after his son dies mysteriously.
Guess the more things change, they remain the same. The internet seems to agree that Neeson became more or less the character he played since his 2008 blockbuster Taken.
