While films like Parchi and Cake scored big with the global audience and Cake even has an Oscar nomination under its’ belt, the nationally released Load Wedding is also proving to win steal hearts with international viewers recently.

The film is getting the love it deserves with its nomination for “Best Feature” at the Jaipur Literature Festival. The festival is scheduled to be held on January 24 till 28 in 2019. This will be a good opportunity for Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza’s Load Wedding given the subject matter.

Given the cultural similarities of the subcontinent, Load Wedding’s comedic take on the issue of marriage and dowry will do well in the region.

Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat’s performances in the movie really bring to life the doleful story of the working man’s struggle for dowry, whether it be for a daughter or a sister.

Nabeel is pretty excited about his film getting in next door. He confirmed the nomination in an interview with InSight.

“It feels great. Fingers crossed. I hope we win.”

More Films

Besides Load Wedding, three other ventures by the same director and producer Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza are scheduled to screened in India.

Na Maloom Afraad 1 & 2 and Actor in Law will be screened at the South Asia Forum for Art & Creative Heritage (SAFACH), New Delhi, in January 2019. It seems as though 2019 will be a good year for the film-making duo.

Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza’s Actor in Law was also a comedic take on a key social issue in our society. The issue is also one that Indian audiences can relate to.

Nabeel Qureshi’s directorial debut began with Na Maloom Afraad back in 2014. The director has consistently cast Fahad Mustafa as the protagonist in all his films.
