Madiha Imam is a VJ turned Pakistani actress who is famously known for her work in Dhaani and Heer. The 29-year-old Mera Rab Waris actress has worked in quite a lot of shows.
Her first film debut was not in a Pakistani film. She first got the offer for a role in a Bollywood film Dear Maya in 2016. In an interview with Something Haute, the actress revealed how she first reacted to the offer.
I was so tiny, this was back in 2016 right after my film school.
I got a call during film school and I was like “Bollywood? No way.”
The actress was shocked to have received the call because she had only done four projects at the time. Even her mother did not agree with the concept of going for a Bollywood project. The director of Dear Maya, however, convinced her to go through the script once before making up her mind.
I have my reservations, even when it comes to roles in the Pakistani media.
But, I went through the entire script and found that there was nothing I could have a problem with.
So, I went to India and filmed the entire movie.
Madiha Imam says she did have to convince her mother before leaving for the shoot of Dear Maya.
Since the movie was banned in Pakistan, most of us have no idea about how Madiha portrayed a 14-year-old through her role, but judging from her interview, it must have gone extremely well.
