The Sindh High Court has directed that the bail plea of Sahir Hasan, son of veteran actor Sajid Hasan, be referred to a regular bench for further proceedings in his drug possession case.

The constitutional bench, which heard the bail application, observed that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of a regular court. The hearing was adjourned with instructions for the relevant bench to resolve the case within 14 days.

Sahir Hassan, currently in custody under judicial remand, was arrested on February 22 in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6. Police claim to have recovered five packets of cannabis from his possession. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the charges against Hasan are based on possession of narcotics, and the bail plea should be considered accordingly.

The court also directed that all necessary steps be taken to ensure swift proceedings in the case. The final decision on the bail application will now rest with the regular bench.

Adding fuel to the controversy, Sahir Hasan reportedly told investigators that his acquaintance, Armaghan, had amassed significant wealth through fraudulent activities. According to Hassan, Armaghan ran call centre scams targeting the pension funds of elderly individuals abroad, using the stolen money to purchase luxury cars, property, weapons, and even exotic animals.

The case has sparked widespread public outrage, with TV host Nadia Khan strongly criticising Sahir Hasan on her talk show. Referring to his alleged involvement in drug trafficking, Khan said, “He says he doesn’t want his own children using drugs, but has no shame in selling to others’ children? That’s pure double standards.”

Khan further added, “This case has shaken the nation. It’s not just about one individual—it’s part of a deeply disturbing pattern that affects families across Pakistan.”

As the case unfolds, all eyes are on the Sindh High Court’s regular bench to determine the next steps in this high-profile legal battle.
