Malala & Beyonce Team Up for a Film For United Nations

To raise awareness and suggest solutions around the key crises our world faces today, the United Nations has enlisted celebrities and influential personalities such as Malala, Beyonce, and more. Their goal – a film based on actions that can tackle contemporary issues, ranging from Covid-19 to poverty and inequality.

Here’s how the initiative is described on the UN website:

“In the midst of a pandemic radically transforming our world, “Nations United: Urgent Solutions for Urgent Times” is set apart from other stories in its focus on facts and solutions, recognizing the need for specific evidence-based action which will create real change. From debt relief, to cutting fossil fuel subsidies, to universal access to healthcare, quality education and digital financial empowerment – the broadcast will present the decisive and immediate action needed to build a better world.”

Malala Yousafzai is one of the activists who have been selected for such an initiative due to her role as a leading education activist and UN Messenger Of Peace. Others include Goodwill ambassadors Don Cheadle and Michelle Yeoh.

The film will also feature a special performance by Beyonce as well as Grammy-nominated singer Burna Roy.

It is being produced by the production company 72 Films. Their projects have been nominated for Grierson, Royal Television Society, Broadcast, and BAFTA Awards. They have won three RTS Awards.

“The film will take audiences on a dynamic exploration of the times we live in, the multiple tipping points our planet faces, and the interventions that could transform our world over the next 10 years,” the UN claimed on its website.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed will also appear in the film. The website further added that Oscar-winning actor Julia Roberts will also host a radio broadcast and podcast version of the show.
