Another young man falls victim to TikTok. A 22-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a train while making a TikTok video.
The young man, identified as Kashif was a resident of Karachi. On recovering his body, the Landhi Railway police said that he was doing a TikTok challenge with his friends. Kashif was struck by the train at the Jumma Goth railway station in Bhens Colony.
The police said that the group of young boys were filming a video for the viral app. Kashif was running on the railway track while making the video when the train hit him, causing critical head injuries.
His friends took him to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he passed away due to severe injuries.
Another TikTok Tragedy
A similar incident occurred in India few months ago. The deceased was a 25-year-old man and was found dead on the railway tracks of Panipat, Haryana.
Identified as Vikas, the young man was trying to film a video for TikTok when he was electrocuted by the railway tracks, killing him instantly.
The number of deaths due to social media stunts and challenges is rising at an alarming rate. Apps like TikTok are all fun and interesting but the fact that certain content on these apps is endangering the lives of millions of young adults shouldn’t be overlooked.
Such content, challenges, and stunts should be removed for public safety and people should also think twice before making a rash decision.
