The Avengers are assembling once again, but not everyone got the invite. Marvel Studios revealed the full cast of Avengers: Doomsday during a livestream on Wednesday, and while the lineup is packed with fan favorites and surprises, some notable names are missing.

Returning to the fold are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America/Sam Wilson, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. Paul Rudd is back as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Danny Ramirez will reprise his role as the new Falcon, and Winston Duke will return as M’Baku.

The biggest twist? Robert Downey Jr. is back—not as Iron Man, but as the villainous Doctor Doom.

The mutant world is also crashing the Avengers’ party. Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), James Marsden (Cyclops), Channing Tatum (Gambit), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) are all joining the fray.

New faces include Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, all from The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), and Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent) from Thunderbolts are also on board, alongside Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor.

But fans will notice some glaring absences. Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) are all missing from the lineup.

Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Chris Evans’ Captain America remain retired, while the Eternals are nowhere to be seen.

The Russo Brothers, who directed Endgame, are back to helm Doomsday, which hits theaters on May 1, 2026. With Thunderbolts releasing on May 2, 2025, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25, 2025, Marvel is setting the stage for its next epic showdown.
