The world’s most famous spy is getting a new creative team. Amazon MGM Studios has announced that Amy Pascal, known for the Spider-Man films, and David Heyman, the producer behind the Harry Potter franchise, will produce the next James Bond movie.

This marks the first Bond film under Amazon’s creative control since the company acquired MGM in 2022.

Pascal and Heyman, two of Hollywood’s most accomplished producers, expressed their excitement in a joint statement, calling 007 “one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema.” They also paid tribute to long-time Bond stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who stepped down from the franchise earlier this year.

“We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who made so many extraordinary films, and honoured to keep the spirit of Bond alive as he embarks on his next adventure,” the duo said.

Barbara Broccoli and her stepbrother Michael G. Wilson had been at the helm of the Bond franchise since the 1990s, continuing the legacy started by their father, Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, in 1962.

Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM Studios, praised Pascal and Heyman as “two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.”

The announcement comes amid growing speculation about the future of the British spy, whose last outing was in 2021’s No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s final appearance as Bond. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos even took to X (formerly Twitter) last month, asking his followers, “Who’d you pick as the next Bond?”

While no actor has been confirmed, names like James Norton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Theo James are among the favourites to take over the role.

Pascal and Heyman are no strangers to blockbusters. Pascal recently produced Challengers starring Zendaya and the Spider-Verse series, while Heyman is working on the Harry Potter TV series and Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun.
