Most people were relieved to hear that we are finally getting a Black Widow solo film in Marvel Studios Phase 4.
Talks of the Russian assassin’s origin film has been around since Avengers (2008). With the movie finally in the pipeline, Marvel teased a look at the old Russian assassin, Natasha Romanoff.

Scarlett Johansson‘s standalone film is the first to put out artwork from MCU’s Phase 4. The poster features a shot of Black Widow facing off against Taskmaster. This Taskmaster is the apparent villain based on the movie’s footage from Comic-Con 2019.

Black Widow Plot Theories
We already know that in her standalone film, we’ll uncover the making of Scarlet Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff. What went down in Budapest? How did Natasha Romanoff go rogue? This movie might finally answer that.
Also, who will be the movie’s baddie? The Taskmaster or Florence Pugh’s character Yelena Belova? Just because she is Natasha’s equal (also called Black Widow) and a product of the Red Room just like her doesn’t mean she’s a good guy. Only the Taskmaster and Yelena Belova can match Natasha’s moves, which is….coincidence?
Cate Shortland is directing the movie. The Black Widow cast also includes David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz round up the rest of the star lineup.

Any Avengers?
Writer Jack Schaeffer is keeping the Black Widow script under tight wraps. That doesn’t stop fans from speculating though.
We all know that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye has a history with Natasha Romanoff. While fans speculate Hawkeye might make a cameo, Scar Jo’s lips are sealed. He’ll probably make an appearance in Budapest, we think.
“That’s when you see the tranq gun come out. My lips are sealed. You got to wait and see.”
Scar Jo did tell us this won’t be the Natasha we’re used to seeing in Avengers. In fact, the actress said that this movie is a genre of its own.
“It’s pretty gritty, but it’s also surprising… it’s kind of in its own genre, I think. Some of the movies that we talked about, we talked about The Fugitive, we talked about Logan, we talked about Terminator 2.”
Marvel’s Phase 4 is letting out details of film titles, cast and release dates slowly. Black Widow release date has been announced to be May, 1, 2020.
