Due to strained finances and lack of onscreen opportunities, movie-star Meera turns stage actress in a brand new stage drama titled Selfie Queen. The veteran Lollywood actress will be starring in the play at the Sabina Theatre in Faisalabad.

It seems like Meera Jee has fallen into some hard times recently as the actress is continuously reported that her finances are in dire straits. Just a month ago, Meera requested Punjab Information and Cultural Department’s newly launched Artist Support Fund for Rs. 40 million. However, her request was turned down by the council as the chairman of the fund MPA, Sadia Sohail Rani stated that the funds are for poor, struggling artists, not “someone who owns an apartment in Dubai.”

There had been rumors going on that Meera suffered a staggering loss of around $100,000 after her foreign shows were canceled due to the pandemic. Even rumors of the Lahore Art Council providing Rs. 5,000 to the Baaji star turned out to be false as the council rejected her request.

With no other alternative available, Meera Jee has decided to star in a new stage drama called Selfie Queen. According to reports, Meera is already attending dance rehearsals for the play.

Written and directed by M Safdar and Shahbaz Rashid, the cast for the play includes Azeem Vicky, Aslam Chatta, Shahid Hashmi, Gamma BA, Anisha Khan, Sheila Chaudhry and Manahil Noor, among others.

Selfie Queen will start on September 11th at the Sabina Theatre in Faisalabad. Stay posted for more updates.
