It all started with a song and a tweet by Meesha Shafi.
My first love. My first meal. My first kiss. My first bath. My first word. My first inspiration. My first friend. My first hero.
My first witness.Shukria Ma ♥️🙏🏼@Sabhamid the epitome of grace under pressure. https://t.co/O3lcKvA7SX

Some songs make us truly feel alive and overcome with emotions, for a multitude of reasons. Celebs like Meesha Shafi are as human as everyone. Surely there’s nothing wrong with saying this song moved her to tears.
She goes on to recount how her family has been very supportive of her during this testing time.
My family and I have suffered deeply on every level since I told my truth. I am trying my best to forgive everyone who hurt us. Especially troll types who don’t know any better due to their ignorance.

She recounts how her mother and grandfather underwent so much just to get her where she is today. They valued ethics and morals over anything else.
I have seen my grandfather and mother’s struggles very closely from a young age. Money or no money, popularity or not, they never compromised on their ethics and morals.

And of course, the best songs out there can make you go into a trance, even speak your heart out. Meesha was enamored by the choice of lyrics in this particular song. In case it wasn’t clear, Meesha was celebrating how much her mother means to her in this song.
Also…. this song is making my heart cry today 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️

But as is wont to happen over social media, some trolls took this as an opportunity to troll her. Especially those who think she’s been making a fuss over nothing after going public with harassment allegations against pop star Ali Zafar.

This one troll says in response to her tweet, that ‘crying won’t help you. Accept your ‘mistake’.’
This ‘mistake’ refers to the recent judgement by the Lahore Court which threw out her case against Ali Zafar on a mere technicality. It doesn’t absolve Ali of what he did, only that the case couldn’t proceed because Meesha was not an employee of Ali, as per the relevant anti-harassment law as it exists.
In response, Meesha turned the tables on this ill-informed troll:
I’m pretty sure I’m not the singer you should be saying this to. Can I remind you which one was actually seen crying? https://t.co/AYMdrb2QBn

We all know what she meant by that don’t we?
