People have mixed reactions towards the Special Court verdict which sentenced ex-military ruler General (R) Pervez Musharraf to death for committing high treason. Similarly, the public even had mixed responses when superstar Mehwish Hayat came out in support for Musharraf.
According to reports, in its short order, the Special Court said that:
“we have analyzed complaints, records, arguments and facts in the case for three months, and found Musharraf guilty of high treason according to Article 6 of the Constitution.”
After the verdict was passed against Musharraf, Mehwish Hayat tweeted:
A very famous Irish Soldier, Thomas Francis Meagher said…
"The treason of which I stand convicted loses all its guilt, has been sanctified as a duty, and will be ennobled as a sacrifice."#Musharraf #MusharrafVerdict— Mehwish Hayat TI (@MehwishHayat) December 17, 2019

Let’s put politics aside for one moment. This man was our President & guided us through some every difficult times. Like him or loathe him, he deserves the opportunity to be heard. At least we can grant him that dignity. After all does the law not say”Innocent till proven guilty”? pic.twitter.com/ys2Sbyph64

Others were disappointed. Previously, the actress voiced how she wants to be judged on her talent alone. She didn’t specifically mention political ideals, but she did emphasize the need to evaluate on talent alone.
“Judge people on talent, on merit, on intellect, on wit..”
You seriously need a crash course in history! And please don't play Benazir Bhutto in a film if you feel sorrow over the rightful death sentence of the dictator who killed her! It's hard to imagine that the Bhutto family agreed to you playing Benazir! @BakhtawarBZ @BBhuttoZardari

Huh? An Irish revolutionary fighting against the British Empire is comparable to a military dictator who seized power for himself in brazen violation of the constitution of a sovereign state that he swore to uphold?

Meanwhile, Elan’s creative director Khadija Shah also expressed her disappointment on the special court’s verdict.

Speaking of political, you can count on Hamza Ali Abbasi to air his views.
After #Musharraf verdict, Will PML N & our SUPER INTELLECTUALS now apologise for their allegations abt Judiciary being Establishment's puppet when Nawaz's verdict came out?

Of course, Veena Malik was also on Musharraf’s side.
We live in a country where a man convicted for looting billions is given a safe passage to London while a former COAS who fought for Pakistan is given death sentence. You may have political differences with him but he can be anything but traitor. #Musharraf sahab we are with u.
— VEENA MALIK (@iVeenaKhan) December 17, 2019
Shan Shahid also voiced support for the former army chief.
A sad day indeed .. when a patriot is called a traitor. #PervezMusharraf you sir will always be our patriot . A true Pakistani a brave soldier and son of the soil. #pakarmyZindabad .

Most of Shaan’s followers second his statement.
