Ms. Marvel: Meet the Pakistani-American and Muslim Superhero! [Video]

Can’t wait to watch the series!

Disney teased our first look at the Ms. Marvel series and we can’t contain our excitement. We can’t wait to watch the series on the production giant’s streaming platform Disney+.

The series has been much demanded and anticipated due to the fact that the protagonist is a Pakistani-American and a Muslim. Seeing a brown teenager and Muslim superhero onscreen is something many Muslim Americans and desi Americans are looking forward to.

Ms. Marvel cast Iman Vellani in the titular role AKA Kamala Khan. The protagonist is a 16-year-old Pakistani-American from New Jersey with the ability to shapeshift. While the trailer does not give away many details we do catch a glimpse of Kamala using her superpowers.

What we’re really looking forward to is how this character ties into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kamala Khan opts for the superhero name inspired by Captain Marvel, another MCU hero played by Brie Larson. As the teen manifests her powers, she exhibits a similar ability to absorb and manipulate energy as her icon.

The series is set to debut on Disney+ in the summer of 2022.

Meanwhile, BBC entertainment journalist Haroon Rashid sparked the idea that Pakistani actor Fawad Khan might possibly be starring in an episode of the series.

“Wow! Fawad Khan set to appear in Ms Marvel – the Disney+ series about Marvel’s first titular Muslim character. He’s listed on the show’s official IMDb page. Farhan Akhtar, Nimra Bucha and Samina Ahmad are reportedly part of the cast too. Marvel yet to comment. Amazing if true.”

Whereas confirmed Ms. Marvel cast members to include Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, and Travina Springer.
