As the confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan reaches 94, there’s a sense of panic that has slowly but surely engulfed us. One thing is for sure though; Pakistan does not hold back on home remedies for anything. Be it a deadly virus, or random DIY projects, our penchant for jugaars (shortcut life hacks) is next level.
From eating raw onions to sunbathing and not drinking cold water, desi families have taken to WhatsApp family groups to share all manner of ‘home remedies’ with everyone.
While the rest of the world is experiencing the same shortage of useful supplies in times of need, most stores in Pakistan have also fun out of supplies like sanitizers and toilet papers. But you know what they say – desperate times, desperate measures.
Where’s my hand sanitizer dude?
In this very curious video, our love affair with shortcuts (or jugaars) is pretty much evident. We see a man who used a fire extinguisher as a hand-sanitizer at the supermarket. The incident occurred at a shopping mart in Gujranwala.
While talking on the phone, it is possible that the man mistook the fire extinguisher for a sanitizer, but given the size difference, the odds of that are pretty low. He very casually walked towards the extinguisher to sanitize his hands and walked away the same.
We don’t blame him for taking an extreme measure to prevent himself from getting the virus.
This seems like a perfect opportunity to remind everyone that washing your hands with soap for 20 seconds, is also a reasonable option to stay safe.

Mistaking the Extinguisher for Sanitiser?? I don’t think so. Let’s not make fun of that man. Watch the clip carefully. There is a continuous beep sound in the back ground. He walks to the Extinguisher with Cell Phone in his hand. He wouldn’t sanitise his phone with it. Infact he kept his left hand above the extinguisher pipe bend and intentionally operated/checked the Extinguisher for say half second. (Mind it he would have been shocked with pressure discharge if he didn’t know it but he was not)
In all probability that beep is related with fire or fire drill and the man is from Fire Safety team. (Sorry to contradict-I came across your site by chance ?)
