The countdown to the final round has officially begun. Netflix has announced that the third and final season of its global phenomenon Squid Game will premiere on June 27, 2025.
Season 3 will see the return of Lee Jung-jae as Gi-hun, Wi Ha-jun as police officer Jun-ho, and Lee Byung-hun as the enigmatic Front Man.
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, who serves as the series’ director and executive producer, has promised a finale that will be both shocking and satisfying. “This is the story I’ve always wanted to tell,” Hwang said in a statement. “The final season will explore the true cost of survival and the lengths people will go to for power, revenge, and redemption.”
Fans of the South Korean survival drama, which has redefined binge-watching and broken countless records, are gearing up for what promises to be an explosive conclusion to the series that has kept the world on edge since its debut in 2021.
Unlike the agonizing two-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2, Netflix has ensured a much shorter wait for the final chapter. Season 2, which dropped on December 26, 2024, left fans reeling with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger and a tantalizing mid-credits scene that hinted at the chaos to come.
The back-to-back filming of Seasons 2 and 3 means fans won’t have to endure another long hiatus before diving back into the deadly games.
Squid Game has been nothing short of a cultural juggernaut. Season 1, which premiered in September 2021, became the most-watched show in Netflix history, racking up 1.65 billion hours viewed in its first 28 days.
Season 2 has continued the show’s dominance, becoming the second-most-watched non-English language series on Netflix with over 173 million views and 1.2 billion hours viewed since its release.
