The urban flooding in Karachi left the city in shambles. Some affected areas are still experiencing the aftermath of heavy rainfalls. Apparently, Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani is accused of being insensitive to the plight of the city’s inhabitants, by posting footage of select areas with no water as most of the city was submerged. His post angered a lot of people over being tone-deaf.
At least 19 people died due to the rainfall on Thursday, as it shattered an 89-year-old record for Karachi. However, the army and relief & medical camps were posted to help the public during this devastating time.
This was 26th street DHA Karachi, my neighborhood….this is why I was worried about my family, my father. What we have witnessed in Karachi today was apocalyptic in some ways. The true hurt & damage will be visible after the water recedes. Nothing but devastation. #KarachiRain pic.twitter.com/loWHBQ1rZC

While Karachi was experiencing major problems and was in need of immediate attention, Saeed Ghani was busy posting updates of areas that had been ‘cleared up’.
He posted small snippets and pictures of the city from the comfort of his car, and it angered everyone who saw the posts.
First, let’s take a look at what he posted:

Public’s Response
Residents of Karachi, especially those who experienced the turbulent situation first hand, were obviously angered. In response to the Sindh Minister’s Tweets, the public questioned his ignorance and negligence.
Let’s take a look:
There's no power in DHA. It's been over 31 hrs. We don't have signals or petrol for generator. There's still water outside. However there's no water for use in the house. Now if I hear one word from Saeed Ghani, imma snap. I'm this close to killing someone anyway.

How is #saeedghani saying all the roads are clear and people are out with families on bike for fun, I’ve just reached home after getting stuck for 6 hours while seeing people in complete distress and my city Karachi in disaster #KarachiRain #KarachiSinks #KarachiFlooded

Raining again in Karachi which basically means Murtaza Wahab will be off twitter for next 24 hours, Saeed Ghani after 12 hours will be posting small videos of roads that have been cleared from his 4*4 & Nasir Shah will be claiming every video shown on media is either fake or old.

Posting videos of dry roads when peoples homes are flooded is akin to posting videos of empty beds in hospitals when the morgue is full. It’s criminal. It’s despicable. It’s immoral.

Can someone take Minister Saeed Ghani's luxury vehicle which is prowling the roads aimlessly & use it to actually rescue people and provide aid to the distressed? #KarachiRains #KarachiSinks #SindhGovt

I don’t want to wish evil upon anyone but if by some miraculous karmic bolt of justice, I saw saeed ghani’s car floating away in the karachi floods, it would really make me happy.

While people do not expect Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani to magically fix every issue, the government saw this coming. Not only were there no pre-planned arrangements to curb the situation but people think that the government was being insensitive to their plight.
