A newlywed couple in Faisalabad tragically ended their lives on Tuesday, reportedly due to financial difficulties that prevented them from going on a honeymoon. The incident occurred near the Bhai Wala railway crossing, where the couple lay down in front of the Badar Express train.
The deceased have been identified as Sajid and Razia, residents of Adeel Town. The couple had been married for just three months. Sajid, who worked at a local power loom factory, had recently asked his brother, Zahid, for money to fund a honeymoon trip.
According to police sources, Zahid told Sajid to wait a few days until he could arrange the funds. This response reportedly left Sajid deeply distressed.
Police investigations revealed that Sajid made a final phone call to his brother from the railway tracks, expressing his emotional turmoil. Despite Zahid’s attempts to dissuade him, Sajid ended the call and, together with his wife Razia, lay down on the tracks.
Rescue teams responded quickly after being alerted to the incident, and the bodies were transferred to Allied Hospital Faisalabad for further procedures. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case.
The incident has sparked conversations about the pressures faced by young couples and the impact of financial stress on mental health. Local officials and mental health advocates are urging families to be vigilant and supportive, especially in times of emotional distress.
