Pakistani-American Kumail Nanjiani and Mandy Moore Pair Up For ‘Insidious’ Prequel

They locked the deal for the sixth instalment of the horror franchise.

Pakistani-American actor-comedian, Kumail Nanjiani and Hollywood star Mandy Moore are coming together for the next film of the Insidious franchise. According to the reports, the duo will work together on the franchise’s sixth film, Thread: An Insidious Tale as husband and wife.

Written, and set to be directed in his big screen shot-calling debut by Moon Knight’s Jeremy Slater, the story will be an offshoot rather than a continuation of the current series without following the Lamberts or any of the established characters.

The story is about a husband and wife (Nanjiani and Moore) who enlist the help of a spell to travel back in time, such that they can prevent the death of their young daughter. The consequences, of course, prove to be severe.

Insidious grew in popularity among the fans of the horror genre, owing to its supernatural themes and thrilling storylines. The horror movie series, which kicked off back in 2010, has so far produced four entries, and a fifth, The Red Door, is on the way next month and is now moving into spin-off territory.

Insidious: The Red Door, directed by regular lead Patrick Wilson, is set to arrive on 7 July and will continue the original franchise‘s storyline. In this film, we will see Josh Lambert heading east to drop his son, Dalton, at college. However, this new chapter of Dalton’s life quickly turns into a terrifying nightmare when the demons from his past start haunting both father and son.
