Another proud moment for the country as Pakistani artist Arooj Aftab is nominated for two Grammys.

Earlier this year, the Lahore native was also on former US president Barack Obama’s summer playlist. She was mentioned among the ranks of artists like Rihanna, The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, and Bob Dylan.

Pakistani musician Arooj Aftab is contending for two Grammys in the categories ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Global Performance’.

In the ‘Best New Artist’ category, she is up against acts like Olivia Rodrigo, The Kid Loroi, and Glass Animals, and several others.

Pakistanis are totally rooting for Arooj, and Fakahr-e-Alam even took to Twitter to show support.

This year’s Grammys ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on January 31st.

Jazz musicians Jon Batiste and Bieber are contending for the top prize, ‘Album of the Year’. Their competition includes Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, H.E.R, Kanye West, Tony Bennett, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and newbie Olivia Rodrigo.

The same artists dominated nominations for ‘Best Record of the Year’. With the 10 nominees including names like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber, and Jon Batiste. Swedish band Abba’s new single, I Still Have Faith in You also made the cut.
