Pakistani entertainment industry is witnessing a huge change as actors, directors, producers and writers unite and raise their voices for #GiveRoyaltiesToArtists campaign.

The campaign was launched on social media late Sunday evening to demand royalties that artists are entitled to. This shows their support for TV actress Naila Jaffery, who in a video requested TV channels to pay her royalties for the re-runs of her dramas as she fights her battle with cancer.

In order to demand justice for their due rights, Pakistani celebrities came together to start the #GiveRoyaltiesToArtists campaign on social media.

Mahira Khan, Mansha Pasha, Zara Noor Abbas, Asad Siddiqui, Yasir Hussain, Wajahat Rauf, Sakina Samo, Mira Sethi, Osman Khalid Butt and many others raised their voices on the matter.

Zara Noor Abbas wrote,

“In every industry, there are some rules. Some laws. Let’s have it set in ours too. Let’s acknowledge the ones who ENTERTAIN you on the COST of their lives.”

Wajahat Rauf also said that it is a ‘pressing issue’ of our industry.

“A pressing issue for our industry. All we are asking for are royalties for artists, producers, writers and directors as practiced all over the world.”

Omair Rana said,

“Artists don’t ask for charity just their due rights to a respectable living and credit for their craft.”
