4 Pakistani Dramas with Over the Top Acting [Videos]

Do you agree with this list?

While the subjects of Pakistani dramas have grown stale, some of them trying to overcompensate with their acting. However, the over the top acting just makes you question the mental maturity of the characters.

It’s as though the characters are mentally tweens and teens, despite the character visually being in their 30s.

Recently we’ve seen a lot of this and it’s like watching those Indian soap operas minus the several minutes of zooming in and out and panning to dramatic background music or soundbites.

6 Pakistani Dramas That Were a Major Disappointment

Here’s a list of the drama serials that are making our stomach churn with their overacting.

Zebaish

While we don’t expect much from Pakistani drama serials anymore, but sometimes we can’t help but get our hopes up. For example, Bushra Ansari’s star-studded Zebaish was a much-anticipated drama.

However, one of the aspects audiences were taken aback by was the cringe-worthy acting from some of the industry’s greatest talent.

From scenes between Amna Abbas and Zara Noor Abbas to even Bushra Ansari’s own scenes. What is the director doing? Not to mention the corny dialogues. What was the writer thinking?

Pyar Ke Sadqay

While Yumna Zaidi and Bilal Abbas’s OTT acting in Pyar Ke Sadqay makes sense, why is Yashma Gill doing the same? Yumna Zaidi’s ‘Mahajabeen‘ is just a child who has been married off since she couldn’t do well in studies. While Bilal Abbas’s ‘Abdullah‘ is a socially awkward grown man with no self-confidence.

But why is Yashma Gill’s college-educated ‘Shanzey‘ acting like a teen? From her emotional depth to her tantrums, it seems the whole cast is just engaged in one big melodrama.

Raaz-e-Ulfat/Mushk

As our actors get older, who wants them to portray characters with the maturity of a tween? Komal Aziz has a capable actress as we’ve seen in serials like Bisaat-e-Dil and Ishq-e-Benaam.

However, her character in Raaz-e-Ulfat will make you cringe with each expression. It’s like a theater satire, minus the humor. So no one’s really laughing.

Her character is shallow and frivolous, but the overacting just makes her seem mentally and emotionally stunted.

Muhabbat Tujhe Alvida

When people realized this was a flanker of the Bollywood movie Judai, they still weren’t expecting a Star Plus-esque serial. But that’s what they got.

Sonya Hussyn’s character is like happy Gogo from Ishq Zahey Naseeb on steroids. While even the talented Zahid Ahmed is fell under the bus… we mean bandwagon.

So it’s clear this was the writer and director’s doing (undoing). Why would you take an artist like Zahid Ahmed and make him do this? Why take one of the best things that ever happened to Pakistani dramas and waste that resource?

Doesn’t this make you question your faith in Pakistani dramas?
