The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee has picked Laal Kabootar as Pakistan’s selection for Oscar next year.
Laal Kabootar has been picked for International Feature Film Award category.
The committee headed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy decided that Laal Kabootar will represent the country in the next year’s Oscar awards. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy herself is a two-time Academy Award and Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker.

The committee also includes Zeba Bakhtiar , journalist Zarrar Khuhro, Assistant Professor of Film Studies at LUMS Zebunnisa Hamid, Sarmad Khoosat, director Asim Abbasi, fashion designer Rizwan Beyg, CEO of Nueplex Cinemas Jamil Baig, actress and model Sanam Saeed and journalist Hamna Zubair.
The producers and director of the film expressed their happiness at this brilliant achievement. Director Kamal Khan thanked the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee and audiences for their amazing response. The members of the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee were all praise for Laal Kabootar.
The film includes Ahmed Ali Akbar, the beautiful Mansha Pasha and Rashid Farooqui in the lead cast. Laal Kabootar has to be the best onscreen depiction of the chaotic life of Karachi.
