The disco king – Bappi Lahiri breathed his last on Wednesday. The musician left a void that could not be replaced. Pakistani fans, as well as Indians, were just trying to heal from Lata Mangeshkar’s death, yet another sad news of Lahiri’s passing took over and left everyone in shock.

Bappi known for his synthesized disco beats died in a hospital in Mumbai at the age of 69. According to the reports, he had been in hospital for a month being treated for multiple health issues, and died of sleep apnea.

“Bappi Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight,” stated the director of CritiCare hospital.

Bappi Lahiri brought disco to the mainstream in the ’80s, set feet tapping across India. He will forever be known as the musician who brought disco to the mainstream and catapulted the rise of it. The ‘Jimmy Jimmy Aaja‘ composer heralded disco-pop and ruled the 70s and 80s with a string of chart-topping songs in India. He has major contributions to the Indian industry.

Recently, Pakistani celebrities, as well as Indians, came forward to express their condolences for Bappi da. Once again music or a musician became the bridge, the disputes were set aside and people of the neighboring countries united to grieve the disco king together.
